The preGA has started, and we are overwhelmed about the incredible individuals from all over the world that have joined us!
Delegates are from a far a field at South Korea, Australia, Taiwan, Canada, Japan, Italy, China, Spain and so many more. The opportunity to hear from so many different countries, and cultures is so rewarding.
Today we are talking about why we are here, what brought us to be passionate about Climate Change, and what we want to do to prevent it.
Everyone is from different backgrounds, some have had years of experience in campaigning against climate change, and high level advocacy, and others are aware that climate change is affecting their home, but don’t know what to do about.
This workshop is going to be amazing, because not only are we learning about Climate Change and Health, campaigning and communications skills, we are also learning how we are going to practically use these skills, and take them back to our own countries so that we can be a part of the Global Youth Climate Change movement.
Right now we are discussing Global Health as a whole, a concept – it is so different to everyone, but we all agree on the huge presence of health inequities. Maybe we can’t all agree what are the most important determinants of these inequities, but we know that we want to reduce them.
I don’t think there are many situations as inspiring as knowing that we are not alone in our fight against Climate Change, we are not just a few medical students interested in reducing climate change in the UK, we are part of a global network, and we are all working towards the same cause, but in different ways, with different languages, but we are all the same – passionate about looking after our future!!
